GODLY RELATIONSHIPS: PURPOSE AND PARTNERSHIP

Hey Guys!
Today’s post will be on relationships-specifically in the Bible. And I decided to start with Ruth and Boaz. I love the story of Ruth-I feel I connect with her pain in a specific way and so to initiate this new set of biblically based relationships, I decided to start here. Ruth 2:1-5 (NIV)
Ruth Meets Boaz in the Grain Field
Now Naomi had a relative on her husband’s side, a man of standing from the clan of Elimelek, whose name was Boaz.
And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.”
Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.
Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, “The Lord be with you!”
“The Lord bless you!” they answered.
Boaz asked the overseer of his harvesters, “Who does that young woman belong to?”

1. PURPOSE: Firstly, I want to point out the importance of purpose. The title of this biblical passage already announces this-as Ruth Meets Boaz in the Grain Field-and that is the grain field of purpose. Hence you need to be divinely positioned to be able to meet that special man/woman-and that position is in your purpose, which is found through God.
Purpose is powerful in helping us navigate into relationships that will be vital for our destiny and to steer away from relationships that are equally destructive to our destiny!

2. RELATIONSHIPS:  The second important tip here is relationship. Whoever you are connected to, is connected to your destiny! Do you understand that? So are you partnering with pain or purpose? You really need to think about this carefully because those who are around you have power to speak into your purpose. Here Naomi had a relative-a man of standing-Boaz. And who did Ruth marry? Boaz-because she was connected to Naomi:

Ruth 1:16 (NIV)
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

So who are you connected to? They could bless or burden that journey to the one you are called to partner with in purpose.

3. DIRECTION: Whoever you are connected to, will determine the direction you face-whether you face destiny or destruction. Ruth had the inspiration to face the direction of purpose through Naomi-she said, let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain-and where did she meet Boaz? In the grain field.
This is why it is important to evaluate the people in your life-they are either a flow or a friction to the stream of destiny flooding into your life.

4. AGREEMENT: Do you agree with those around you? It is important to be in agreement with your friends and family-this will determine the decisions you make in life-people may be helping you to make the wrong decisions and not the right ones. Who are you in agreement with? This will determine the power in your path to face your purpose.
Naomi was in agreement with Ruth-hence there was power in their unity-spiritually speaking, there is great force in unity: Can two walk together unless they are agreed? (Amos 3:3)

5. DETERMINATION: When you face the right direction, and are in agreement with those around you, you need to focus on your destination-and this requires determination. Ruth was determined-the Word says she began to glean behind the harvesters. There is power here: she was behind the harvesters-learn from those ahead of you; learn from those that have gone before you-observe and apply. Ruth was working behind the harvesters-harvesters means those that gather crops-hence those that are bountiful-blessed. There is something more important I want you to grasp here-when you following the preceding steps you begin to walk amongst the company of the gifted and the blessed-your destiny will have placed you in their path because you followed the right path.

6. DESTINY:  The Word here tickles me (Ruth 2:3) because it says as it turned out-but that is what happens when we walk along the path God has laid for us: everything falls into place-that is destiny. Ruth was working in the field of Boaz-she was working-that is the present continuous-hence she kept on her business-have you stopped yours? Have you gotten tired and stopped? You need to continue. And look at the Word: Boaz…was from the clan of Elimelek. Who else was from this clan? Naomi-there is truly a deep power in relationships. If you are partnered with the wrong friends/surrounded by the wrong family influences-you will not be led to your Boaz/Ruth.

7. APPOINTMENT: As she was working, Boaz arrived from Bethlehem. I always found it fascinating that he arrived from Bethlehem as our LORD hails from Bethlehem. Hence he was a God send. He wasn’t there before-but he was there now. Hence don’t worry about where this person will come from-they are a God send. Just keep about your purpose-and they will meet you there-Boaz announced his presence with a Godly greeting-what he says will identify him-by their fruit you will know them (Matt 7:16).
The harvesters also answered in a Godly greeting-this is extremely important-because it shows when you are in the company you are meant to keep they will lead you to the right woman/man.

8. PARTNERSHIP: And this is clear as Boaz inquired from the overseer of his harvesters-hence your friends/family connect you to your partner-therefore protect your purpose. Boaz noticed Ruth because of the company she kept. Do you know that? He only noticed her because she was in the company of the harvesters-she was behind them. So which company are you keeping? And then it begins, he asks: who does that young woman belong to? That's so interesting-the first thing he will ask women is if you belong to God. Do you? A Godly man only desires a Godly woman. A Godly woman only desires a Godly man. Women-you are hidden-the right man will see your beauty-he will inquire if you belong to the Father through prayer.
He inquired without Ruth’s knowledge-hence men and women of God-go about your purpose-when it is time men-you will identify her-and women-keep about your Father’s business. It is also important to realize that, the partnership began before they were even aware of each other-hence just because you have not met each other does not mean you are not working together already. That person could be your friend/co worker or simply a person that is working in the same area of purpose as you-that is partnership.
A final word: Men and women: keep the right company and surround yourself with the right influences-it has so much power over your destiny.
